My work reflects my interest in connections. My impulse is to see and respond to images that reflect a simultaneous sense of  isolation and of connection within a set of social constructs.

I work in mixed media - oil and acrylic on canvas, and collage and acrylic on canvas, plastic, paper or wood panel.  My work is to evoke a feeling that is optimistic, but addresses the contradictions of everyday life. Each piece derives from my memories and current impressions of everyday activities, objects and scenes.  I am fascinated with human perception and the variety of ways a single event or object can be interpretated.  The images depict the chaos and complexity of a contemporary technologically sophisticated society where images are rapid, confused, and uncertain.  The images that emerge may also incorporate mass media icons and take the form of an oblique narrative.  My interest is in individual internal feelings and their connections to an external physical world and cultural influences that convey a sense of community.
