Max Vigil
Max is a painter who has a studio in Somerville at the Vernon Street Studios.
Also, Max has been trained and has worked professionally as an urban planner with an emphasis on mass transit for many years. His travels include visits to Mexico, Canada, Japan,Taiwan, Hong Kong, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, England, and Italy.
In 2004 Max developed a series on city transit looking at the human dynamics of the local usage of the rail and the bus system of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA). The images are a macro view of the stations, garages and lines of the MBTA that in some cases convey a sense of isolation and in others a sense of participation in community life.
